A retreat for art, yoga, and mindfulness!

At Lake Logan’s Mandalas and Movement Retreat, led by Mary How and Julie Mayson, participants will learn the basics of mindfulness practices and the benefits of combining art and yoga for mindfulness. You’ll learn practical mindfulness skills and leave feeling energetic yet peaceful about starting your own practice at home.

Evenings after 9:30 PM will be free for continued personal retreat or social time with other participants.

Program Lead Mary How, MA, ATR-BC

Mary How, MA, ATR-BC is an artist, board-certified art therapist, and emotional wellness coach with 20+ years of experience helping people navigate deeply emotional issues with art, creativity, and love. In her coaching and skills courses, Mary uses a unique combination of cognitive restructuring, mindfulness, and art to help people overcome painful life experiences.

As an artist, Mary uses mandalas, or sacred circles, to move healing energy within her work and the world around her. She creates mandalas of varying sizes and forms, including pens, acrylic paint, chalk, and natural materials. She makes small mandala circle drawings with fine point markers in her daily meditation practice. Mary also facilitates community-based art installations by creating extra-large mandalas alongside community members to teach skills and bring healing to her community.

Program Lead Julie Mayson

Julie Mayson is a 500-RYT yoga instructor trained in hatha, kundalini, meditation, and kriya. She is also certified in Spiritual Direction, SoulCollage®, and Vedic Astrology.

Julie’s experience and training have taught her to evoke the mystery within and see each day with new eyes in an endless process of discovery and surprise. Her goal is to meet you where you are and offer various avenues toward connecting with one’s true essence in a fun and practical embodiment of the spirit.

Please bring a yoga mat, blanket, and any other yoga props you would like to have. All other materials are provided.

Fees

Overnight registration fees include the program, two nights’ lodging, and six meals.

  • Single Occupancy: $495 (taxes & fees not included)
  • Double Occupancy: $395 (taxes & fees not included)

Day Commuter registration fees include the program and three meals.

  • Commuter: $295 (taxes & fees not included)

Options are available for nonparticipating guests (two nights’ lodging with a participant and six meals), coming in a night early (Thursday night lodging), and staying a day later (Sunday night lodging).

Thursday and/or Sunday Night: $100 per night

Tentative Schedule

Thursday, May 16th – 3 PM cabin check-in. However, the program will not begin until after dinner

  • 3-6 PM: Cabin Check-In
  • 6 PM: Dinner
  • 7:15 PM: Introduction to the weekend and intention setting with Energy Invoking Yoga and Magic Mandalas
  • 8:45 PM: Break
  • 9:00 PM: Yoga Nidra
  • 9:30 PM: Free Time

Saturday

  • 8 AM: Breakfast
  • 9 AM: Following the Breath with Watercolor (creating a mandala journal cover)
  • 9:30 AM: Yoga Breathwork and Heart Opening practices
  • 10:45 AM: Mandala Journal Making and discussion
  • 11:30 AM: Break for lunch
  • Noon: Lunch
  • 1-3 PM: Individual Practice (mindful walking, creating, resting, or connecting…. you
  • choose!)
  • 3 PM: Mandala Journaling
  • 4 PM: Yoga Kriya to invoke inner joy and free movement
  • 6 PM: Dinner
  • 7:15 PM: Mandalas and Movement
  • 9 PM: Evening Meditation
  • 9:15 PM: Social/wisdom talk around the Dining Hall Campfire

Sunday, May 19th – Cabin check-out is at 9 AM. However, the program will continue through lunch.
