At this two-day retreat, participants will

  • Examine own attitudes about the continuum of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging and the role our faith plays
  • Meet people with differing backgrounds and viewpoints.
  • Generate open, honest, and frank dialogue at the retreat and a desire to continue the conversation after the weekend.
  • Understand relationship between diversity, inequality, socio-economic-political power, and faith
  • Identify and incorporate changes in communication which promote inclusion
  • Leave with a clear individual action plan for “what next?” in their own lives, churches, and communities.

Attention Vestry and Clergy: This retreat will count as credit for attending Dismantling Racism in the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina.

Our retreat facilitator is Mr. Oman Frame, a sociology teacher and Coordinator of Equity and Inclusion at the Paideia School in Atlanta, GA and author of Let’s Get Real: Exploring Race, Class, and Gender Identities in the Classroom. Mr. Frame uses an engaging and interactive presentation style. Be prepared to participate. He will be joined by a panel on Saturday afternoon.
