Camp Henry Outdoor School

CHOS Summer Camp

CHOS Summer Camp focuses on learning, living, traveling, and experiencing God’s majesty in a back country setting.  Participants will learn through hands-on experience planning backpacking routes, food rationing, map reading, Leave-No-Trace ethics, and expedition management. Using lightweight equipment and backpacking skills, you will experience the incredible Smoky Mountains that create the scenic backdrop for Camp Henry.

Led by experienced staff who have Wilderness First Responder certification and a chaplain, participants receive instruction on all facets of planning and leading a safe and enjoyable back country expedition. CHOS sessions for Middle School and High School aged youth are a great way to learn how to prepare and plan your own wilderness expeditions. You will also spend a day climbing on Camp Henry’s Alpine Tower challenge course at the CHOS base camp, a day rock climbing in Pisgah National Forest, and a day of whitewater rafting.

CHOS is an extremely popular program with very limited space so please register early.

CHOS trips can also be scheduled for youth groups, scout troops, families and other groups.  Please contact Camp Henry to schedule a private CHOS trip.
