Retreat Policies

Lake Logan does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital, family, pregnancy status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran, or citizenship status. The Episcopal Church welcomes you.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT

Prior arrangements for early or late check-in/out should be discussed with Lake Logan’s Guest Services Manager prior to arrival. 

Check-In
Guest check-in time for lodging starts at 3 PM. Check-in is at the Main Lodge Office. A packet containing maps/property information including cabin assignments and door codes for those cabins that have them, vehicle tags, and guest release/registration forms if not done online in advance will be provided. If you arrive after our office is closed at 5 PM, the front lobby will be unlocked and open (we do this for all overnight and weekend guests) to pick up the paperwork.

Check-Out
Guest check-out for lodging is at 10 AM. There is no need to go to the Main Lodge Office upon departure from the property.

MEAL INFORMATION

Standard mealtimes are 8 AM, Noon, and 6 PM.

Dietary Accommodations
Special dietary requests may be accommodated. These include gluten-free, vegetarian/vegan, and allergy requests, such as dairy and nuts. Please reach out with any questions about specialty diets.

Meal Minimum Policy
A minimum participant count of 12 has been established for food service. If your group numbers fall below that minimum, your group will be charged for a total of 12 participants for each meal served.

Alternate Meal Times
Alternate meal times may be requested at the time of booking if the group is not sharing the property with another group and may only be changed within the hour of the standard meal time.

Outside Catering and Food Trucks
Outside catering is not allowed in the Dining Hall. Food trucks require pre-authorization and will be charged an additional fee.

PAYMENTS

Group leaders are responsible for collecting payments from their group and making deposits and balances for the group as a whole.

We accept check, e-check, cash, debit, and Visa/MasterCard/Discover/American Express. There will be a 3% service charge for credit and debit card payments.

You may pay online via e-check or mail a check for no additional fee.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND

Your 25% deposit is non-refundable. In the circumstances of unforeseen life events, such as serious illness, death in the family, catastrophic weather, etc. we may work with you to reschedule your event within one year of your initially planned date of arrival.

90 days before your event – Notify us if you need to release any cabins or meeting spaces. After this time, you are responsible for full payment for the cabins and spaces you have reserved.

30 days before your event – Your balance is due.
If you are reserving meals. Please let us know if you have any dietary needs, restrictions, or allergies. Notify us if there are any changes to meal counts. After this time, you are responsible for the full payment of any meals you have reserved.

AGE REQUIREMENTS

Lake Logan will not enter into a retreat agreeement with persons under the age of 21. Proof of age may be required.

PETS

All registered service animals are welcome in all buildings at Lake Logan. Please make sure your service animal is identifiable as a service animal.

For a $75 non-refundable fee per pet, Lake Logan allows your well-behaved family dog in Cherry, Maple, Noo Nook, and Rhododendron cabins only. No other pets are allowed. A $250 fee will be charged for pets found in non pet-friendly cabins.

Guests bringing pets must sign an additional document stating their understanding and agreement to these policies and a credit card number must be kept on file and will be used to pay for any damages to Lake Logan property caused by pets. Lake Logan will attempt to contact the pet owner to discuss damage prior to running charges on a card.

PARKING AND DRIVING

We will issue a parking permit for every room reserved. If you need additional permits please let us know. All guests with vehicles on the property must display a Lake Logan parking permit. We recommend you park your car and walk; however, when driving on Lake Logan property, please obey the posted speed limits and signs.

RECREATION

All activities are at your own risk.

  • The lake is open for guests from approximately April 1 through October 31 each year depending on weather conditions.
  • Groups larger than 20 people using the waterfront require lifeguards.
  • Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, and use of Boojum’s Cave (August through May only) for overnight guests are included at no additional charge.
  • Additional fees may apply for day-only guests.
  • Some property areas may not be available when privately reserved by other groups.
  • During Camp Henry, the lake is not available for guest use during their swim time – typically June and July 4-6 PM, but this time is subject to change.
  • Lake Logan reserves the right to deny the use of the property at any time.
 
Each guest in your party must sign a release of liability form before or on arrival, lakelogan.org/registration-release.

TOBACCO

For the health of all our guests, Lake Logan all buildings are smoke-free and tobacco-free. This includes e-cigarettes and vaping. Please smoke only in designated areas outside and away from building entrances, and dispose of your cigarette butts in appropriate locations.

ALCOHOL

Lake Logan does not have a liquor license from the State of North Carolina to serve guests alcoholic beverages. Guests are welcome to provide their own beer and wine to enjoy during dinner or in their cabins. We ask that our guests drink responsibly and assure that only those of legal age consume alcoholic beverages. Open containers are not permitted on the grounds or by the waterfront. Consumption of alcohol while boating or swimming is not permitted. 

PUBLIC SPACES

All guests are invited to enjoy the use of the living room and front porch at Main Lodge as well as the porches at the Dining Hall for informal rest and relaxation. Advance notice will be provided at check-in if an area is reserved for a private function.

LIABILITY

Guests assume financial responsibility for any loss, damage, or destruction to Lake Logan property or equipment. Charges for excessive cleanup will be assessed to the guest, and a damage deposit may be required at the discretion of the Executive Director.

LAKE LOGAN PROPERTY

Furniture, linens, blankets, pillows, and kitchen items – including dishes – should remain in their proper locations. If the furniture is moved to make your stay more enjoyable please return it to its original location before your departure. Please do not tape or use putty on any walls. 

QUIET TIME

Please observe quiet times from 9 PM until 9 AM.

PHOTOGRAPHS

The photographs or likenesses of guests of Lake Logan may be used for publicity or other purposes without compensation or other consideration. Guests may request in writing that their photographs or likenesses not be used in this fashion.

LOST AND FOUND

Lake Logan cannot be held responsible for any items left behind by guests but will attempt to keep such items in safekeeping for a one week before donating to charity. Please call the office as soon as possible if you discover that you have left something behind.

RIGHT TO REMOVE PERSONS

Lake Logan reserves the right to remove any persons from the facilities or premises who, in the sole discretion of Lake Logan staff, are unauthorized or who are creating a disturbance, or who are jeopardizing the health, safety, and/or welfare of our guests.

RATES

Lake Logan will honor the lodging rate agreed upon in signed use agreement (regardless if rates increase after a use agreement has been signed). Please note that Lake Logan rarely changes the price of meals. In the event of a significant increase in food costs within our region, there may be a relative increase in the costs of prepared meals. Sales taxes are set by the state of North Carolina. Occupancy taxes are set by Haywood County.

OTHER GUEST INFORMATION

Lake Logan does not have cell service.

Guest Wi-Fi is typically available in these cabins – Ash, Hemlock, Maple, Retreat, Sunburst, and Walnut and these meeting spaces – Celebration Hall, Field, Johnson Dining Hall, and Main Lodge. Due to our mountain location, we cannot guarantee the quality of Wi-Fi service.

Cabins do not have phones. Public telephones are available in Johnson Dining Hall and Main Lodge. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM and any messages received there will be delivered to guests as soon as possible. The office number is 828.646.0095.

Mail for guests should be sent to “Recipient Name and Group Name,” c/o Lake Logan, 25 Wormy Chestnut Lane, Canton, NC 28716. Mail received after departure can be forwarded upon request and payment by the recipient for up to one week.

Lake Logan reserves the right to amend policies for special events, including but not limited to weddings, festivals, sporting events, etc.
