Camp Henry Staff

We are so excited to introduce to your 2020 summer staff. It’s going to be a great summer, and we hope we’ll see you all at Camp Henry!

Amar Donepudi, Counselor

Hello! My name is Amar Donepudi, and I’m extremely honored and excited to return as a counselor at Camp Henry! I was raised in Hickory, NC and have been coming to camp for the past 11 years. Camp Henry has without a doubt been the biggest part of my faith journey and has given me memories and friendships that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Back home, I have a strong interest in music and creative writing, two things that have also helped me in my journey through Christ. I can’t wait to start working again this summer, and I sincerely hope that I can help give the campers an incredible experience that they’ll never forget.

Annika Mahan, Counselor

Dillon Noble, Counselor

Hey guys, I’m Dillon, and I’m so excited to spend this summer with all of you! I’ve been coming to camp as a camper for 6 years and this is my first year on staff! I spend most of my free time playing spikeball with my friends. I am the president of the spikeball club at my school so we will have lots of it this summer. After graduating I am going to attend Central Piedmont Community College, and after 2 years I am going to transfer to Appalachian State University to major in criminal justice. I can’t wait to see you guys at camp this summer!

Elizabeth Curley, Counselor

Hello everyone!! My name is Elizabeth, Beth, Curley. I am a first year student at Hollins University. I am majoring in Mathematics.  This will be my thirteenth year at Camp Henry, my first as a counselor.  I love making friendship bracelets and key chains. I enjoy playing sports and being active outside. My favorite time of the day is swim time. I grew up in Canton, North Carolina just a few minutes down the road from camp. I am so excited for this summer and to meet everyone.

Emeline Scales, Counselor

Hey y’all! I’m Emeline and I’ve been going to Camp Henry for five years, but this is my first time as a counselor!! I’m beyond thrilled to spend my summer in this magical place and to share it with y’all!! I took a gap year after I graduated from high school last June, so for the past year I’ve been traveling, working, and playing a whole lot of music while I apply to college! I’m still not sure where I’ll end up next year, but I want to major in Religious Studies. I can’t wait to see you all this summer!!

Katherine Boone, Program Coordinator

Hey y’all! My name is Katherine Boone, and I’m so excited for my second summer as a Program Coordinator at Camp Henry! By the time summer rolls around, I will have graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism and a minor in Religious Studies. I currently work for Basin Recreation in Park City, UT as a Recreation Programming Intern and an After School Program Aide for one of the elementary schools in the district. I love the kids I work with there, but I’m excited to (re)connect with campers, old and new! Until then, I’ll be preparing for hula-hoop competitions, practicing my moves for morning dances, and dreaming about singing songs of praise in one of God’s most beautifully thin places! See y’all soon!

Jack Vezmar, Counselor

Hi! My name is Jack Vezmar and I live in Michigan! Currently, I’m a freshman at Michigan State University, majoring in electrical engineering, and I’ve been having a great first year! In my free time, I love listening to music, hanging out with friends, watching/playing sports such as basketball, soccer and ultimate frisbee, and just being active in general. In high school I played varsity soccer for three years and swam on the varsity swim team for three years as well! Although I live in Michigan now, I grew up in North Carolina and moved to Michigan in the seventh grade. While in North Carolina, Camp Henry played a huge part in my summers starting in 2009 when I attended camp for the first time! I always loved going to camp as a camper, even after I moved, so I’m super excited to be a counselor this year! Some of my favorite memories from camp include camp games and singing in the chapel. I can’t wait for this summer! It’s going to be a lot of fun!

See you there!

Jessie Hodgson, CHOS Assistant Director

Hey guys! My name is Jessie and I am excited to serve as the Assistant Director for Camp Henry Outdoor School! I am a senior Outdoor Education major at Montreat College and a member at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church! I love spending time outside, good coffee, a warm bagel on Sundays, and summer camp! I cannot wait to spend another summer at camp!

Maria Perez, Counselor

Hey guys! I’m Maria aka MGPerez, and I am so excited to spend the summer with you! I have been going to camp for the past 12 summers. This is my first year on staff, and I have never taken a summer off. I spend most of my time doing homework or working, but in my free time, I am either dancing or doing something with colorguard. Over the winter I marched a winterguard called Étude and had an amazing experience traveling and getting to compete on an international level with a group of people that I have learned to love dearly. In the fall I will be a sophomore in college majoring in psychology with a focus in pediatrics. This summer I am looking forward to singing and playing games with everyone, but most importantly having fun dancing in the morning!! I can’t wait to see you all this summer! #CampHenry2020

Mary-Margaret Curley, Program Coordinator

Hey guys! I’m Mary-Margaret, but you can call me Moe. I am blessed with the opportunity to return to Camp Henry as one of your Program Coordinators! I was raised in Canton, NC and spent 13 summers at Camp Henry! I am a new graduate of Berea College with a BA in Child and Family Science. I look forward all year long to coming to camp and cannot wait for the summer to start! You can be sure to always find me drinking coffee in my large stash of tie-dyed t-shirts, dancing in my chacos.  I can’t wait to play in the field, dance in the rain, and sing my heart out with all of you! In the meantime, I am praying for each and every one of you. Blessings, Moe!

Michael Vezmar, Counselor

Hello! I’m Michael Vezmar and I am so excited to again be a counselor at camp!! I was blessed enough to have this position for the past two summers, and 2020 will be my third straight summer as a counselor at Camp Henry! By that time, I will have just finished my junior year at Michigan State University. (Yes I am from Michigan!) I plan to graduate in the spring of 2021 from The Honors College of MSU and The College of Engineering with a degree in Materials Science. Beyond that I plan to enter the industry, and hopefully later get a master’s degree. As for my being from Michigan, I am originally from Hickory, North Carolina, and was a camper at Camp Henry for the first time in 2009. I absolutely loved my time as a camper, which lasted until 2016, and that experience inspired me to give back as a staff member! My number one goal as a counselor is to help campers have as awesome of an experience at camp as I did! I would truly not be the person I am today if it was not for my experience as a camper at Camp Henry. It is for these reasons that I reapplied for this summer, as I would like to take this opportunity as many summers as I can, while it is still in the cards for me. Some of my favorite Camp activities include night games, singing/dancing in the chapel, and swim time. At camp you may see me as a lifeguard, playing some ultimate frisbee, or at the piano during chapel time! I truly love playing piano and music in general, and it is a very large part of my life. At MSU I am a member of the Spartan Marching Band, Spartan Brass (hockey/basketball/volleyball band), and the MSU Concert Band playing trumpet. I count trumpet and piano as my primary instruments; however I also have experience in choir and absolutely love singing camp songs at the piano or otherwise! I cherish the opportunity I have to share my passion for music at camp (in addition to my passion for all things Camp Henry!) and am thrilled to have that opportunity again this summer! I am looking forward to the amazing time we will have! See you there!

Morgan Dotson, Counselor

Hey y’all, what’s up?! My name is Morgan! I am from Asheville, NC but am currently in New York finishing up my first year at the Fashion Institute of Technology.  I am majoring in fashion business & played on the school volleyball team this past fall (Go Tigers!). In my free time I love working out, spending time outside, exploring new cities/cultures, and finding fun ways to be creative. I’ve been going to Camp Henry since 3rd grade, and this is my first year as a counselor! I can’t wait to sing, dance, laugh, play some awesome games, and just be present at the best place in the world with you guys! I look forward to seeing you this summer.

Sadie McNair, Counselor

I have one younger brother who is currently a junior in high school and two dogs named Niko and Sully. I am so pumped to be working at Camp Henry this summer! What I love most about camp is being silly, endless fun, and unconditional love that is everywhere. I can’t wait for morning dances, mountain views, singing at the top of our lungs, friendship bracelets, Splash 101, muddin’, dodgeball, and most importantly, meeting all of you!

Samuel Miller, Counselor

Hey everyone, it’s me, the Sam Miller. I’m so stoked to be back at camp another year. Last year was great; time for round 2. I’m currently enrolled at CVCC getting my education on for business and then transfer to a bigger school. In my down time I’ll go skate or play soccer with my friends, so if you dare to play a game of the good ole fútbol, I’m your guy. It’s gonna be epic boys and girls. So let’s get this camp thing on the road. So excited to see everyone again and can’t wait to help you have one of the best weeks/summers of your life. It’s gonna be a blast everyone so be prepared to have a great time. Till we meet in the summer have a great rest of the school year make all A’s and enjoy every second of it. Ya’ boi Sam.
